Meet Your Physical Therapist
Dr. Reshma Salvi, PT, DPT, CAPP.
Founder & Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist
I started working as a physical therapist 16 years ago. During my work as an orthopedic PT, I noticed growing need to address the pelvic health issues experienced by many of my patients. My clients were complaining of pelvic pain, urinary/bowel problems and sexual pain which needed pelvic health assessments and specific interventions.
I was hearing stories of patients that their pelvic health concerns were dismissed and they might have to live with their symptoms. I wanted to help change this situation thus, I decided to deep dive in to the world of pelvic health and pelvic floor therapy.
I have completed extensive training in pelvic floor physical therapy at the Pelvic Health Academy, a branch of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Additionally, I am trained in physical therapy interventions designed specifically for pregnancy and postpartum-related conditions through APTA's Pelvic Health Academy.
My passion is to improve awareness about pelvic health issues and the role of pelvic floor physical therapy to find lasting relief from symptoms.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
During your 1 st visit at Core and Beyond physical therapy, your physical therapist will have one on one conversation about your story regarding the symptoms you are feeling. It will be followed by comprehensive full body evaluation to assess joint range of motion, muscle tightness, muscle strength and pain evaluation. Your physical therapist will discuss details of the plan of care after completing evaluation steps. You will be involved in setting personal goals and plan of care to achieve them. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable and to provide you with correct education to manage your symptoms.

Internal vaginal/rectal examination allows a physical therapist to determine muscle tone, muscle strength, tenderness and other valuable details. Thus, it is recommended to conduct internal examination to accurately determine the source of the symptoms. You may opt out of the internal examination if you don’t feel comfortable. Your physical therapist can use external palpation techniques to gather required information.

No, you can visit us directly for an initial evaluation. The state of Michigan allows direct access to receive physical therapy care for 21 days or 10 visits. After completing initial evaluation, your physical therapist will guide you to obtain appropriate PT script.
